January 2020: Homeland association is looking for comrades-in-arms
The local history society has planned many tasks in local history preservation and cultural events. For this purpose, volunteers are needed who can get involved in various working groups depending on their interest in history, hospitality, manual skills or PC knowledge. The goal is to use the knowledge and experience of Grafenwöhr residents and to let them actively participate in the museum’s activities and in the history of their hometown. Volunteers are needed for the following work groups:
- History: collecting and documenting stories and anecdotes about the old town, suburb, military training area from World War II onwards; interviewing contemporary witnesses; attributing people and buildings on old pictures; clarifying historical inconsistencies. Meeting 1x monthly.
- Supervision of Zoiglstube: Catering for smaller groups of guests with preperation, serving, cleaning up. as needed.
- Team of helpers at events: Support at Easter market, oven festival, etc. with bar, barbecue stand, cake serving, dishwashing service, vending.Deployment to the major events.
- Working group: setting up and taking down of events, exhibitions and the Easter fountain; repair work in the museum; cleaning actions. Meets as needed and weekly during the summer months on Monday at 6 p.m. at the museum for work service.
- Collection care and inventory: recording, measuring, photographing, packing of collection objects. Meeting 2x a month.
- Image archive: Digitization/scanning, capture and assignment of glass plates and photos. Meeting 1-2x a month
- Museum service: supervising the museum box office during opening hours on weekdays or Sundays. According to the duty roster, every four weeks on weekdays, or every 2-3 months on Sundays.
